A Sighted Guide is a human guide who assists a person who is blind or has low vision to safely navigate through space. The person who is blind or has low vision typically holds the sighted person’s arm just above the elbow, although this may vary depending on individual needs, such as when using a wheelchair or guide dog. The sighted guide also provides verbal guidance, describing the path and notable features of the environment, such as stairs or obstacles.
