Service animals are defined as dogs (or in limited cases miniature horses) that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Service animals are allowed by law to be with their handler, even in places that don’t allow pets (unless it constitutes a “fundamental alteration”). Service animals must be under the control of the owner at all times.
