The Medical Model of Disability is a model of disability in which the focus is to “cure” the person of their disability and any medical aspects of their disability. While once the dominant model, the Medical Model is no longer considered the prevalent way of thinking of disability in the U.S., though activists remind us that many disabilities do come with real medical implications for which they deserve to receive quality care.
