Audio Description Booth

An Audio Description (AD) Booth is a designated quiet space within a performance venue, with full view of the stage, from which audio description is delivered during a live event. The booth should have an unobstructed view of the stage and be equipped with appropriate technology—such as a microphone and transmitter—to support real-time description. While a soundproof booth is ideal, in venues without one, describers may use a stenomask (a speech-dampening microphone worn over the mouth) to quietly deliver a description without disturbing the audience. The goal is to ensure that the describer can work effectively without interrupting the live experience.
