Assistive technology refers to tools and devices that support people with disabilities in accessing and participating in programs, exhibits, and performances. Some AT is personal—like a visitor’s sip-and-puff device or eye-tracking system used to navigate a touchscreen—while other AT is provided by the venue, such as screen reader-compatible digital guides or captioning on a video installation. In public programming, AT might support communication during workshops or enable independent wayfinding through accessible apps.
