In a cultural setting, ALDs (assistive listening devices) refer to the equipment used for a visitor or patron to utilize an Assistive Listening System. For the person tapping into the sound amplification system, they will have a receiver and headset or neckloop. For someone giving a tour, talk or other presentation, they may be using a microphone in a set environment that links to a transmitter, or a microphone and transmitter that are mobile. The latter are often used in classes and tours that are moving through space. Individuals may also have their own personal amplification devices.
