An Access Rider is a document outlining an individual’s access needs and accommodations, before participating with, attending or visiting public spaces. Originally created to outline the specific access needs of disabled artists and art workers to ensure their accommodations during performances, events and creative work, the concept has now evolved to and is widely used by the disability community in a variety of public spaces. An Access Rider can also be a document outlining an organization’s access services or a venue’s available accommodations, particularly for organizations who rent or lease public space.
